Man Arrested for Assault on Deaf Man: Do Businesses Hire the Right Security Guard Companies in Bristol?
When a man was arrested recently for the assault on a deaf man in a nightclub, it made us think about what entertainment venues should be thinking about when organising security for their events.
According to the article in Bristol Post, the man police arrested was 24 years old, and the deaf man who was assaulted – Harry Gibson, aged 27 – was actually the brother of Big Brother winner Josie Gibson.
Police suspect that it could have been a hate crime and are treating it as such as they charge the arrested suspect with Actual Bodily Harm, and his bail will mandate his return on May 30th while police continue their investigation.
Bristol Nightclubs & Security
Although we don’t believe it was a security flaw in terms of the nightclub where the assault happened, we do wish to focus once more on encouraging night time entertainment venues to seriously look at their security practices – and this includes the security guard companies in Bristol they hire.
Night time entertainment security guards are sometimes called ‘bouncers’, and it is their job to keep an eye on ensuring the right people come in and the wrong people stay out; it is also their job to spot trouble before it happens and stop it from happening.
What Should Security Guard Companies in Bristol Do About Improving Night Time Entertainment Security?
Security guard companies in Bristol should, as with anywhere else, be placing focus on correctly training their security guards to spot situations that could end in violence, theft or anti-social behaviour – and night time entertainment venues are even more prone to this kind of crime than anywhere else, as alcohol is often flowing and party goers often lose their inhibitions.
Security guards or bouncers are never going to put an end to trouble on a night time. But they can certainly help your business cut it down by a significant percentage. So if you don’t have security guard companies in Bristol on your ‘to do’ list, put them on it – and do it. And if you already have it sorted, think about this incident and consider if you and your security guards are doing enough to protect your customers and staff.
Police have been encouraging witnesses of this event to get in touch while they investigate, and as the news of this story unfolds, we wish the poor victim our warmest wishes in a speedy recovery.
