As such, here are some recent statistics that help us to understand the kinds of crime most affecting the area of Bristol in recent months.
Anti-Social Behaviour Accounts for 45% of Crime in Bristol
Out of a total 201 crimes within Bristol in December 2014, as published on the publicly available police.uk database, a total of 91 were categorised as anti social behaviour.
Anti social behaviour covers a huge range of crimes, and should not be under represented in terms of how serious it can be – although general nuisance can indeed be classed as anti social behaviour, much more serious crimes such as threatening behaviour and verbal abuse also fall under the same umbrella.

18% of Crimes are Violent or Sexual
Worryingly, the next most prevalent crime to hit Bristol for the month of December in the year 2014, is Sexual and Violent Crime.
This kind of crime can have a severe physical and emotional impact on its victims, and with it being the second highest type of crime reported (a total of 36 instances in December alone), it should not be overlooked as it is a very real threat.
Only 1.5% of Crimes Reported were Shoplifting
Reassuringly for owners of retail businesses, shoplifting was significantly lower than other types of crime. In fact, in the month of December 2014, only 3 instances of Shoplifting were reported in the Old City and Queen Square area of Bristol.
While this is reassuring, however, it does not pay to become complacent – it might be a good time to analyse your prevention measures against shoplifting to ensure we can keep this number as low as possible in years to come.
